Will's 5th Birthday!

On July 27, we celebrated Will's 5th birthday!  We decided to make it a family celebration and had such a nice day celebrating our boy all day long.
Nathan had to work, so we let Will open a gift to play with during the day. He loved the Lego set we got him!

It was tough for him to wait all day for Daddy to come home from work, but he did it!  We always let our kids plan our menu for the day and he chose chocolate cake with chocolate icing for afternoon snack:)   I am good at decorating cookies but am at a loss when it comes to cakes:)  I found these Happy Birthday candles at Walmart and they did the trick:)  I didn't light them so they can be reused.

He loved the cake!
His Nana and Pawpaw got him a cool scooter that has three wheels and can do tricks.  Nana also sent him a balloon bouquet, which made his day!  He loved being the recipient of a special delivery!
Madeline used her own money and bought him this game.  Such a sweet big sister!
Uncle John and Aunt Lindsey got him a Nerf gun that can shoot 12 darts at a time.  He loves it.  This mom is less than thrilled!  I guess my little brother is getting me back for all that teasing I did when we were kids, LOL!
We ended the day by going to the Chinese Buffet.  It is always what both kids ask for when we go out to eat:)  It was such a nice day, spent as a family celebrating our precious boy!

Dear Will,
This year has been such a year of growth for you!  You started 4k and exceeded all of our expectation with how well you did.  You know all of your letter sounds and about 40 sight words.  You are understanding more complicated Math concepts and have nice handwriting:)  You loved your teacher, Mrs. Tori, and made lots of new friends this year. We had so much fun watching you graduate from preschool and are excited to see you start Kindergarten in the fall.  We had such a good time spending our afternoons together and you were so sweet to mama when I was feeling so sick with Mallory.

You explored several new talents this year.  You played T ball and took Art lessons.  You also tackled your fear of water by going to a special swim day camp and doing great!  You helped us with a new foster baby and became the best big brother to Mallory:)

You are still so sweet and laid back.  You are kind to everyone and very tolerant of both of your sisters.  You still love trucks and trains but have a new love fore Legos!  You moved into your own room after sharing with Madeline for over a year and have done really well with it.  You have loved exploring the world of dairy products now that you are not allergic.  Your favorites are vanilla ice cream and any kind of yogurt.  You are not a big fan of cheese or sour cream.

Your favorite breakfast is cinnamon rolls, favorite lunch is soy PB&J sandwiches on whole wheat bread, and favorite dinner at home is chicken taquitos.  You are not a big TV or movie watcher at all but do like Jake and the Neverland Pirates and pretty much all PBS kid shows, if you are in the mood.  You would rather play freely most of the time!  This mama likes that much better anyway:)

I love you so much and am so proud of how much you have grown up this year in all areas!

Love,
Mama
