August 2012

*A quick side note:  the quality of many of my pictures is not great.  Since having Mallory, I've been more dependent on my phone for pictures as it is most convenient.

Right after Will's birthday, Nathan had to go out of town for a week for technology training.  He decided to take the two big kids to their Granny's for the week, to make things easier for me.  So, it was just me and this precious 5 week old:
We watched a lot of Olympic coverage and just nursed, cuddled, and had quiet days together:)

When everyone got back, things got pretty busy getting ready for the start of school.  Mallory tagged along to the dentist where both kids kept up their no cavity streak!
We went to Hope Landing twice a week for Will's Speech, O.T., and P.T.  Madeline, Mallory, and I got pretty good at passing time in the waiting room (for 1.5 hours each time!).

Madeline got in some sweet cuddling time with her baby sister.
Madeline got a special award.  Our town is the home of Murphy Oil Co.  They do wonderful things to encourage good academic performance for our districts' students.  One such thing is to reward any first grader that scores in the 85% in all areas on the State Test $1000.  Half of it is put in a college account to be given upon graduation from high school and the other half is given in cash.  It is such an amazing program and we are so thankful that they choose to recognize this achievement!
Madeline scored 99% in Math, 98% in Language, and 97% in Reading!  So, we went to the award ceremony.  Here she is with her friend, Mady.

 Her certificate of achievement:
We allowed Madeline to choose one thing to spend her money on.  She did lots of thinking and didn't rush out to spend it.  She finally decided she wanted to buy an American Girl doll.  She got online and researched quite a bit and settled on one that looks like her.  She also got her a few outfits and glasses:)  She put the rest of her money in a savings account.  We sure are proud of her!
Nana came to visit and got Mallory a mobile for her crib.  She was pretty mesmerized by it!

Mallory turned 2 months old.  Here is her picture and last months for comparison:

It is amazing how much she changed and filled out in one month!  Mama's milk is doing a good job:)  At her two month check up, she weighed 11 lbs and was 23 inches long.

Both kids got haircuts.  We tried a new style for Will.  He calls it his rock star hair!
Madeline had lost three bottom teeth at this point.  Right at the end of August, she finally lost a top tooth:)
We also had two major events in August:  Mallory's Baptism, and the first day of school.  I decided to give each one their own blog post so stay tuned:)
